How We Work
Accessing Banked Human Tissue
Tissue Solutions is neither a tissue bank nor a catalogue shop. Instead, we work with a virtual model where we source ethically acquired and fully consented quality human tissue from our network of sources world-wide. These range from direct hospital sources to commercial bio banks, charities and prospective post mortem organ and tissue collection agencies.
The advantage of working with Tissue Solutions is that we are not limited in capacity to the stock held in one bank but can widen our scope to multiple storage facilities. The wider our network, the quicker we are able to help obtain the materials needed for our clients.
We always ensure that each new source added to our network has the required ethics or institutional review board (IRB) approvals in place and get a copy of this paperwork along with their patient consent forms. Please contact us if you would like copies of the IRB/ethics approval and template donor consent form for any of our sources.
Because our tissue service is a customized approach, based entirely on what the client needs for a specific project, we are not restricted to a specific disease area in terms of the types of tissue we are most likely
to source.
As part of Tissue Solutions’ ongoing Quality Management, we guarantee that our samples have been collected following standard operating procedures to ensure their quality. |

Feasibility Studies and Prospective Collections
If the need arises we look beyond our established network to find what you are looking for. This is done by carrying out a feasibility study to either identify a specialist collection of banked samples or clinical groups willing to carry out a prospective collection on your behalf.
We deal with all the paperwork and logistics associated with a prospective collection, saving both you and the clinical groups precious time. For many of these, we can also put you in direct contact with the clinicians to help promote future collaborations in translational research.
By understanding your scientific needs, we find the right samples to ask the right questions, allowing you to maximise the value of the information obtained. |

UK Ethics
As we are based in the UK, we often advise our clients on the Human Tissue Authority regulations and the UK ethical approval process. Instead of leaving this to the client or clinicans we can help with preparing realistic protocols and designing patient information & consent sheets that conform to the National Research Ethics Service (NRES) guidelines. We are fairly flexible in our approach and will help you with as much or as little of this that you need.
